Green is the color of April. Did you know that April is Lawn and Garden month? Are you planning on planting a garden this year? Last year, we were lucky enough to receive seed donations and were able to give children seeds to plant at home and grow. This year, we have partnered with Neighborhood Forest and offered free seedlings to plant (more details below).
What is Earth Day? Earth Day is a day that over a billion people celebrate and try to protect the Earth from problems such as litter and deforestation.
How can you celebrate Earth Day and practice it every day?
Pick up litter in your neighborhood (wear gloves and take trash bag and an adult with you)
Recycle (cans, paper and glass are all recyclable)
If you have books/DVDs/CDs that are in good condition (not moldy/pages falling out), we can use them at the library for either our collection or we will put them in our Used Book Store. Please no encyclopedias or outdated materials.
Plant a tree. We’ve partnered with Neighborhood Forest to provide trees for parents and their children to plant. If you registered through Neighborhood Forest for a tree, watch your email- we will let you know when they are available so you can plant them.
Use a recyclable bag when you go to the store. Instead of asking for a plastic or paper bag, bring a reusable bag with you and carry your items in that.
